ISO 45001 Occupational Safety Management

(formerly OHSAS 18001)

An occupational health and safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001 focuses on occupational safety and preventive health protection.

The ISO 45001 has replaced the British standard OHSAS 18001 and sets global players on a globally uniform standard for work and health safety. After 5 years of intense negotiations, improvements and objections, the English version of ISO 45001: 2018 "Occupational safety management systems" was published in March 2018.

The new ISO 45001 can be structurally integrated into the ISO 9001: 2015 and the ISO 14001: 2015 or extended by the High Level Structure (HLS). This makes it easier for organizations to implement or enhance an integrated QHSE management system through the same structure and terminology of the various management system standards.
